The Most Overrated Dreamcast Game Ever Gets Live Release?

shenmue live
So many sailors it’s like living a Village People video!

Looks like Shen Mue, the most overrated Dreamcast game ever, is coming to Live Arcade:

Over the weekend, a leaked image from Xbox LIVE Arcade’s ParnterNet revealed that Dreamcast’s Jet Set Radio may on the way to Xbox LIVE Arcade. This morning, the same guy who leaked that image, is leaking yet another which says Shenmue is coming, as well.

And related.

No one hates Shenmue like you hate Shenmue.

My hate for it has actually grown in subsequent years now that this horrible ‘game’ is viewed as some sort of Holy Grail to game nerds.

I would actualy say it’s not really that overrated, the game has a fanbase true, but it’s not as big as you would think. Beyond them pretty much everyone else forgot about the game.

Also, there’s really nothing to hate about Shenmue, it was like playing an episode of a really dry japanese sitcom, badly dubbed into english. It was akward, sometimes interesting, sometimes embarrasing, sometimes funny, with always the same thing on my mind: “they spent 80 million dollars on…this?”

You need to get out more if you don’t think this game is vastly overrated: every time a ‘games that need a sequel’ lists come out, anywhere, this series is at or near the top. Every. Damn. Time. This wouldn’t be the case if there werent a lot of people clamoring for it.

The gameplay itself is just wretched, forget about the laughable story which is so disjointed and wacky that you, the player, know everything Ryo needs to figure out long before you can *make* Ryo figure it out which is utterly maddening: “don’t you see, Ryo! Those are the bad guys right there! Kick their asses!!” But no, first you’ll slog through all this exposition–in real time!!–and like it!

Then, if you’re really lucky, near the end we’ll let you…drive a forklift–a bloody forklift! In a game by Yu Suzuki?! What planet is this?! Planet Lame???

So, to recap: absolutely terrible. I’d go into more detail, but I need to make it upstairs to bed and the crushing ennui of recounting said details is likely to render me comatose at my keyboard…which would still be more fun than being forced to play Shen Mue again!
