Around the Sidebar in 120 Seconds

*<3 Yen shows us a very odd sushi delivery commercial which upsets me more than it should since you can’t get sushi delivered in the woods of northern New England. (Hell, you can’t even get a pizza here.)
*Arcade Heroes taunts me with just about the only thing, thus far, that makes me regret not attending that sinkhole of masturbatory gaming glitz known as E3. (I just hope it isn’t heart-breaking for Shaggy if they announce an XBLA version at the show.)
*ManekiNeko, over at GRB, drops the martillo para puntillas on Just Cause 2, a game you probably couldn’t pay me to play even before reading this.
*Jack at iatm points out a rather silly editorial by GamePro (surprise) that goes on, at-length, about how the hardcore gamer is pretty much little more than a microscopic minority and how the people making games for them have finally figured out (Duh? DS? Wii? Hello?) that this is the case.
*KoG points out the inhumanity of snow on Cinco de Mayo and a ramble that kinda reflects the aforementioned post on iatm, albeit with a game that is many years old at this point.
*P2P runs with a quick post on a re-arranged Tron soundtrack, chiptune style.
*The Nerd shares a video on an NES acting like one of Michael Bay’s (boo! hiss!) Transformers, only they appear to have skipped texture mapping the Wii at the end, thus rendering (haha!) it about as professional as the acting in a…Michael Bay film.
*Dipping down to Meh-hee-ko, The Wanderer posts up the first (?) trailer for Robert Rodgriguez’s (native of Austin, TX) Machete, starring Danny Trejo, perhaps the ugliest man alive. (I’m not even saying that to be mean/cruel: the dude is ugly in a way humans don’t normally get without serious facial trauma, say, after a procedure with Priscilla Presley’s plastic surgeon.)
*Thoughts of Fei goes on the wagon (posting-wise) with a short ‘n’ sweet story about what it means to be a father.
*The Knight posts up a small round-up of stories, one submitted by someone I think I know.

Yeah, even though the game I’m complaining about is not particularly new (late-ish PS2),man is it ever a product of the ‘give us more’ mentality. And things are even worse now, with online and achievements/trophies mixing into the fray. At least in the case of Genki, as I said in the post, they may have gotten the message. Their subsequent game was MUCH more focused. That could’ve just as easily been for budgetary reasons, but the end result was a game (ITC) that had a much higher fun per hour quotient. Sometimes you want to play to PLAY, not MANAGE.

That Machete trailer is for the real movie that is, but it does have parts of the Grindhouse fake trailer that i guess will make it to the actual movie.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it was the first trailer for it. (Grindhouse not withstanding.)

Pfft, I’m not on your sidebar. P:

Pretty interesting stuff. Kog’s writeup on that Genki racer made me so mad. That is everything, EVERYTHING, I hate in a game.

Any time somebody says “There’s so much extra stuff to do, I could waste my time for hours before moving on” I know that it isn’t a game for me.

wait, this is my mom’s account? O:

        Oh well.
