Megaman Online Rocks Some New Artwork

Mostly Monotonous Online

News on this game’s existence came to light during Capcom’s wily financial debriefing, where they saw their profits drop faster than their plans to work with Western devs. Whom they now hate. A lot.1

My take on the actual game is rather jaundiced since this is going to be, principally, aimed at the Asian market which means, in all likelihood, that it’ll be grinding Hell and about the last thing anyone outside of Seoul would actually want to spend time playing. (Essentially killing an endless number of Mets1 to get anywhere near something the rest of us might consider marginally-fun.)

On the plus side, it has the awesome abbreviation MMO, which is probably why it’s called Megaman Online (and not Rockman Online), but that, along with some cool artwork (see above), will probably be as good as it gets.

h/t: Kimimi for the artwork heads-up.

1 In large part blaming Western-developed IP for their own bad business sense.
2 Unless you’re a Phillies fan then, well, maybe you would enjoy that…a little too much.

Hey, Grinding Hell ain’t so bad! Grinding Satan is a pretty cool guy, actually. I remember when we ground (grinded?) our way through Dragon Warrior one weekend before diving headfirst into Earthbound Zero. Ah, those were the days my friend, those were the days!

Honestly, if the grinding only involved 8-bit JRPG levels, I’d be A-OK with it, but Korean MMOs don’t stop there–they make it the entire game for hundreds of hours and I just don’t have the time/patience/stamina/patience to do that anymore. (Actually, I don’t think I ever did, going by my experience w/ a number of MMOs.)
