Too Hard Corps For the Gaming Media??

Contra popular belief, nobody cares about Contra

Why is Eurogamer the only outfit even mentioning the Contra game for XBLA and PSN??:

Developed by Arc System Works, Hard Corps features eight levels and anime-style visuals, and is built around the Contra series’ famously rock-hard side-scrolling shooter gameplay.

Some power-ups and vehicles should be familiar to fans of the series, and there’s also a special Rising Mode for newcomers, in which you can take three bullets before dying rather than the usual one.

And then I checked the comments…eight of them. This story has been up for 9 hours or so and has a total of eight comments. Anyone know a good cure for old school gamer despair??

‘Anyone know a good cure for old school gamer despair??’

The same time-tested cure there’s been for all sorts of despair.

Thanks for mentioning this — I had no idea it even existed. Which, sadly, was the point.

Contra was never that big in Europe. Was called Probotector in the Nes days, and punters were ambivolent to it anyway. It doesn’t have that legendary retro reputation that Americans apparently bestow upon on it.

Ain’t trying to excuse the lack of comments, just explain.

That looks great, I’m glad they are coming back to Contra. I have been thinking about purchasing a Dolphin Blue arcade to feed into some Contra-like 3D side scrolling hunger of mine (then again, DB is more like Metal Slug)

Man, I thought DB was a crushing disappointment 😦 Have you played it? It’s just so…generic, gameplay-wise.
